« The first Divine Liturgy was celebrated in Barnsley, South Yorkshire »

On Saturday, March 30, 2024, with the blessing of His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, the first Divine Liturgy was celebrated in Barsnley, South Yorkshire.
Worship at the Anglican Church of St. George was celebrated by the cleric of the Sourozh diocese, Priest Anatoly Vikhrov, Rector of the parishes of St. Xenia of St.Petersburg in Leeds, of the Presentation of the Lord in Bradford, of St.Constantine and St. Helena, equal to the Apostles, inYork, and of the Nativity of Christ in Kingston-upon-Hull.
The liturgical hymns were performed by the choir under the direction of Irina Novikova-Abrahams, choirmaster of the Parish of the Presentation of the Lord in Bradford.
More than thirty Orthodox believers living in Barnsley and its environs arrived to pray at the Liturgy and partake of the Holy Mysteries of Christ.
According to those present, not everyone was able to attend the divine service that day, however, many plan to attend services on a regular basis in the future.
At the end of the divine service, Father Anatoly and the parishioners had a conversation over a common meal.
